I regularly wear my grandma’s hand-me-downs because I think her old clothes have a lot of style.
The range of comments I get when I tell people go from, “Wow your grandma must have looked so cool” to utter confusion.
All of which still don’t change the way I feel about wearing my grandma’s clothes, because I really like them.
Value, style, comfort, coolness, what have you—it’s all subjective.
Extrapolated, what this also means is that most of us are not accurate predictors of how well something will do when it’s shared with the world.
And so for any painter, designer, writer, or chef, the work we share might not always hit.
Take your chances.
