I hate reading. It’s so boring.

(Is what I used to tell myself before I rediscovered my love for books again).

In elementary school, I actually loved to read. We had reading proficiency rankings and I remember thoroughly enjoying the process of going from one reading level to the next.

I loved going to the library and taking out fiction novels as a 12 year old kid.

Unfortunately, high school happened. High school was where I felt forced to do readings in English and science class.

No longer was reading for leisure. All books were for assignments and grades.

It wasn’t fun anymore.

Whenever there was reading to do, I groaned.

I disliked the act of reading so much that I stopped reading on my own for years.

I thought for the longest time that I hated reading.

Until one day, out of the blue, my brother came home with a Kobo.

I decided to give it a try again.

Just for fun.

Little did I know I would fall in love with reading all over again.

I’ve been reading every day since.
