Every artist wants their work to be successful—otherwise we wouldn’t be putting in time and effort for what we do. So how can artists, designers, and freelancers make work that we’re proud of? For many, we can start by sharing our work.
I used to struggle sharing my art with other people. I often thought that I didn’t need outside feedback, and constructive criticism would make my work worse rather than improve it. It turns out that my attitude towards believing that I didn’t need any feedback was just insecurity in disguise. I was scared to hear what other people had to say about my ideas. I wanted to protect myself and my taste by hiding it.
So back to the question, how do we make good creative work? My best guess is that we have to begin by letting other people in on what we’ve been hiding.
