“My work sucks”
Get this phrase out of your system entirely. Saying this makes you seem like you’re out fishing for compliments, or you have a weak understanding of who your work is made for (hint, it’s not yourself). Or, you haven’t put in the work to be the creative genius you aspire to be, and are wanting the results, now.
Here’s the truth: while your skill level isn’t where you might want it to be, you can improve over time.
Instead of saying “My work sucks, I’ll never get any better” try “This is where my skill level is now. I’m working towards getting better, so you can take a look now and another look in 12 months when I’ve put in more practice.”
