“I won’t take your feedback personally.”
This is something we say when we try to separate ourselves from our work. Actually, I’m going out on a limb to say that it’s impossible to take in feedback without relating it to your self worth in some regard.
Instead of “Don’t worry Christy, you can say what you want about my work. I won’t take it personally” try something like “I created this piece. It might not be for you, but I’m willing to hear your take on it so that I can understand my own work better”
